Recruiting Contest!

In a last-ditch effort to save this alliance and give it a boost of vitality, as per Splinted's suggestion, I am officially launching a recruiting contest to which our current and future members can participate! Here is how the recruiting contest will work:
  1. Prepare yourself to recruit members using your preferred method
  2. Chat with a candidate you've selected and verify that they meet certain requirements
  3. Once you think a candidate would be interesting and interested, refer them to me and send me a letter in Port Hope so I know who invited whom.
  4. Two weeks from now, on July 7th, I will evaluate the result of the contest as a whole and by members, and the happy winner will be covered with a gift of 10k from myself and possibly other members of the alliance!
Preparing to recruit - some tools for the job

So you're ready to start competing in the recruiting contest, but there's one problem... We're an all-girls alliance, so naturally you have to find female characters! And travelling everywhere seems inefficient to find recruits... So what's the best way to find more potential candidates? Here's a script I wrote that will help you! You need the following:

You need to be using the Firefox browser,
You need to have the Greasemonkey Firefox extension installed,
And then just click here to install my Tibia Online List Enhancer script!
(It is hosted on an old website I made. Please disregard the wierd URL.)

When this is done, if you visit Amera's online list (or any server's online list) sorted by level, it will automatically color every male character in blue and every female character in pink. Furthermore, it'll make the names of premium characters bold and the names of free account characters in normal text. You might get some 403: Forbidden error for some time after doing this, but it will stop doing it after some time. Just don't do it too often, disable this script if necessary! Of course, using this script is not mandatory, but it helps finding female characters and premium ones.

Searching for candidates - a few things to keep in mind

We Relic Roses value correct language and friendliness. When you are talking with someone you are considering to invite to Relic Roses, make sure:

  • VERY IMPORTANT: Check the forum thread that will be created for this purpose to see if your candidate hasn't been approached already!
  • Her comprehension and use of the English language is at least as good as yours. Frown upon abbreviations and internet slang ("lol", "sup", "k", and so on), common grammar mistakes (confusing words like "you're" and "your", incorrect or missing capitalization, "dont", "wont", "should of", etc.) Do tolerate honest mistakes, minor, infrequent or difficult misspellings (like "litterate") and typos.
  • Try not to disturb her, but do ensure that she is genuinely interested in the concept of our guild. Show her the Rules pages of this blog (see the menu on the right).
  • Try not to recruit characters of a very low level (15 is about the limit, don't go too far below it), and verify that they are still interested in playing and logging in at least a few hours every couple of days.
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Post in the forum thread that will be created for this purpose so that others can see who you've already invited or tried to!
If you find a candidate that matches this description, you're golden! Ask her to contact Azure Flash by PM or letter to Port Hope, and send me a letter to Port Hope saying you've recruited her.

Contest Mechanics - How the contest is run
  • Duration: 2 weeks (ends July 7th)
  • Prize: 10k from me and possible congratulatory gifts from others
  • Winning condition: If the recruiting operation, from the growth that it ensued, is deemed a success due to a noticeable increase in members (5 new members will be considered a success), the person who will have attracted the most will be the winner.

More rules to be added as needed. Have fun and good recruiting!

Rules of the Relic Roses

The following is a set of rules and guidelines that define who can join the Relic Roses, how a member should behave and how the guild works overall. Keywords are highlighted for even more clarity. And yes, I start counting at zero, perhaps you can guess what field I'm in =P

Joining

The Relic Roses are female characters (actual gender isn't important) of any level or vocation who are fluent in English and who play Tibia to have fun, at their own pace. While we encourage and admire quick leveling, riches and power, it shouldn't keep you from going out of your way from time to time to give someone a hand or hang out with friends or fellow Relic Roses. Activity is not an issue as long as you still play from time to time, even logging in and saying hello every few days is enough.

Rules

0) A Relic Rose does not kill, steal from, scam, insult, threaten or otherwise harm others. She may, however, kill someone if it is justified, for instance if her target is a player killer, but she should stay away from conflict unless directly involved or certain about what the situation is. Should a Relic Rose be suspected of commiting crimes, she may be expelled from the Relic Roses.

1) Please understand that you will no longer be a Relic Rose if you were to change your character's gender. We have nothing at all against male characters and we regard them as equals, this is mostly a matter of style and a part of the definition of this guild.

(More rules to be added as required)

Guidelines

0) The guild channel is a good way for all guild members to talk to each other, and the more members we recruit, the more lively and fun it's going to be, so try to keep your guild channel window open as much as possible.

1) A true Relic Rose values the clarity and elegance of full sentences made with full words and full punctuation. While this isn't a requirement, any Relic Rose should make their best effort to write correctly.

2) While not required at all times (or even at all), roleplaying is a good and encouraged way to have fun between members in private, in the guild channel or in person! For clarity, you should signal when you're going IC (in character), for example with a marker at the beginning of IC lines like (IC) or IC>. Assume OOC unless specified otherwise.
